Ritson Road – Commercial Site Development Project
Engineer: Stantec
Tech Solution: Level AI
Location: Ontario, Canada
Road Network: 10km
Level AI enabled multiple rapid iterations and certainty on earthworks quantities.
Located on Ritson Road in Ontario, this commercial logistics hub comprises six large warehouse buildings with multiple truck bays, heavy-duty pavements and tightly constrained grading envelopes. Dock heights, truck approach grades, internal circulation and on-site stormwater controls all needed to work together within a flat regional landscape, existing servicing constraints and stringent local standards for accessibility and winter performance.
To efficiently resolve these competing requirements, the civil engineer teamed with Allsite.ai, using Level AI to iteratively optimise building pad levels, truck yard grading and drainage falls, reducing rework and helping deliver a safer, more functional freight-ready site layout.
The Challenge
Stantec were providing feedback to their client on the feasibility of the site for development and were provided multiple warehouse configuration options. The client wanted fast turn-around for each design determining quantity of retaining walls and earthworks quantities for each option. The roads had to tie in with existing neighbourhood roading networks. A pond on site needed to be sized and 100year flood waters managed on site.
Technology in Action
To overcome these challenges, Allsite.ai's Level AI was used optimize engineering designs:
Minimum elevations added to pads, maximum retaining wall heights configured
Roads around buildings configured to have max 1% grade.
Truck bays sized automatically
All drawings automatically produced using Allsite.ai’s webapp.
Ponds automatically sized
Rapid answers indicating site earthworks and retaining quantities
The Results
Clients demand rapid answers to questions when determining whether to purchase a site. Allsite.ai offers much more accurate answers and much faster than using traditional manual CAD design methodologies
